On the evening of Thursday 9th May, some Hackney residents, who were tired of being ignored by their Council, pitched four tents in Hackney Town Hall Square, in the centre of the borough.
We maintained a presence in the Square for two months finally ending the action on Tuesday 9th July with a huge demonstration. For most of that time we maintained a 24/7 presence, with that changing in our final few days where we campaigned only during the daytime.
During those two months hundreds, perhaps thousands, of people were involved – handing out leaflets, donating food, sleeping in tents, and joining our events and demonstrations.
Despite the camp closing, we continue to work together to achieve our five demands – click on the links to get more information:
1) Disclose
2) Divest
